We offer a 1934 Bentley for you to travel in style to your wedding. The car is a 3½ litre Derby Bentley with a four door saloon body by Park Ward.
These cars were advertised as ‘the Silent Sports Car’ in their day, and though a bit less slick than 21st century cars, the car is surprisingly modern in engineering terms. It’s a great period piece, full of 1930’s elegance and charm, and will add real style to your special day.
The car was originally ordered on 8th August 1934 by a Mr Elliott Cohen, and was delivered to him in November of that year, painted in ‘battleship grey’, with matching grey leather upholstery. The car chassis, including the engine and running gear, cost £1,302 8s 6d (£1,302.42½), plus a further £422 1s (£422.05) for the body and fittings.
Subsequently the car has been owned by a schoolmaster at Radley in Oxfordshire, an RAF officer, a doctor in Devon and a solicitor in Norfolk amongst others, and has spent time in the United States. Now painted black over British Racing Green, the car has red leather upholstery and runs well.
